Political Education

Political Education

From its foundation Trademark has functioned as a roving workers’ and community college, rooted in the best traditions of working-class education.

In the intervening period we have been working tirelessly to promote radical political education across Ireland and Britain, with the core aim of developing organic leaders in our workplaces and communities. Our approach to political education looks to connect a systemic analysis of the economy and socio-political structures to the praxis of organising and action, building on the foundation of people’s existing knowledge, experience and creativity.

Trademark’s education programme covers a range of subjects including:

  • History & Identity in Britain & Ireland
  • Human Rights & Equality
  • Anti-Sectarianism, Anti-Racism, Prejudice & Discrimination
  • Basic Shop Stewards’ Training
  • Working-class History & Labour Politics
  • A Worker’s Guide to Historical Capitalism
  • An Introduction to Political Economy
  • Co-operative Development & the New Economy
  • Alternative Economic & Political Strategies
  • Climate Breakdown & the Just Transition

Trademark also delivers political education in support of its core community relations objectives, specifically with the purpose of encouring marginalised constituencies to engage in difficult conversations and consider the possibilities for building a better social and economic future.

We are open to the design and delivery of education tailored to different needs and interests, be that for a trade union, community group, civil society organisation or political party.
